Hello Patrick, I'm sorry to hear about your poor experience with John Guest Fittings. I understand it can be frustrating when a product doesn't meet your expectations.
John Guest hoses and connections can be great when used correctly, that's why all caravan manufacturers use them.
Here's some tips to ensure you're getting a good connection with no leaks:
- Ensure you're using the JG cutter tool. When using the tool, make sure the hose is seated in the bottom of the 'V', nice and square throughout the whole cut. You will still need to use a fair amount of force to get the blade through as the JG Hose is quite stiff and thick. After the cut, you will normally find that there will be a dent on the end of the case from the force of the cutter. If you squeeze the end around a bit you will be able to work this dent out and it will be back to nice and square. A common cause of leaks is installing the hose into the fitting with this dent still on the end.
- The next most common cause of leaks is not pushing the hose into the fitting the entire way. It often can feel like you've hit the end, however you've only hit the end once it comes to a very hard stop, sometimes deeper than you may expect. Once you hit the hard stop at the end, pull back on the hose and that digs the teeth in and you're right to go.
Hope this helps Patrick, please give us a call on 02 4954 9996 if you continue to have any troubles

Thank you
